"Natur im Aufwind" is a series of events organised by IG Windkraft with the aim of promoting a constructive exchange between nature conservation and climate protection and highlighting synergies between these two specialist areas. The debate about wind power and nature conservation is often characterised by misinformation that portrays this (actually environmentally friendly) form of energy generation as a destructive force. However, there are already comprehensive legal requirements in place to ensure that the expansion of wind energy is in harmony with nature conservation and species protection. The series of events is intended to show that wind energy utilisation is compatible with nature conservation and can even make a valuable contribution to this if planned correctly. The protection of biodiversity and the fight against the climate crisis must not be seen as conflicting goals, but must go hand in hand. Instead of an adversarial discourse that presents climate protection and nature conservation as irreconcilable opposites, it is important to promote a constructive dialogue that reconciles both aspects.
The first event will take place in cooperation with BOKU University as an equal partner.
Moderation - Katharina Liball BSc MSc (wildlife ecologist, hunter & environmental officer of the Ecosocial Forum)
