Successful erection of a 100m wind measuring mast by the EWS team.
Shortly before Christmas, the EWS team erected an almost 100 metre high wind measurement mast for our long-standing customer ContourGlobal under challenging winter conditions at the mountain location in the district of Bruck-Mürzzuschlag. The project marks an important step in the further development of the regional wind farm project.
The erected wind measuring mast will provide precise wind data over a period of at least twelve months and thus forms the basis for well-founded site assessment and planning. The combination of a towering measuring mast, modern remote sensing technology and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) models means that wind resources and terrain influences are recorded particularly reliably.
Markus Sageder, Head of Measurement and Assessment at EWS, emphasises the importance of the measurement campaign:
"With the wind measuring mast, we are creating the basis for a state-of-the-art site assessment. Only with precise data can reliable forecasts be made about the wind resource and statements about the safety and efficiency of the future plants - especially in this complex alpine terrain."
ContourGlobal is an established independent power producer (IPP) with an international presence that focuses on the development, acquisition and operation of plants for power generation and storage. With a strong focus on sustainable and secure energy supply, the company operates 162 MW of installed wind capacity in Austria, where it has experience in repowering initiatives at its wind farms and in development. In this context, ContourGlobal relies on EWS as an accredited testing body in Austria for wind measurement in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025.
Stefan Jung, Wind Developer at ContourGlobal, explains:
"For us, high quality standards and low measurement uncertainties are crucial. The collaboration with EWS guarantees both and thus contributes to the reliable realisation of projects in the region. We want to act as a long-term, stable and transparent partner in the community and make a significant contribution to local supply security."
The EWS team would like to thank you for the trust you have placed in us and looks forward to continuing our successful collaboration.
