Site visit by senior management

Our three EWS owners – Alina and Esther Mirwald, and Gerhard Steindl – recently visited two ongoing building sites in Burgenland to see for themselves how work was progressing.

EWS Project Manager and Site Coordinator Constantin Greger provided fascinating insights into day-to-day life on the building site and gave a first-hand account of the current status of the project. These are her impressions and conclusions:

Esther Mirwald: “I’m particularly impressed by how thinking and working extend across projects. For example, the foundation rubble from another repowering project was used for the access road construction at the agri-PV plant in Parndorf. The EWS team is doing a fantastic job here, drawing on 32 years’ experience in construction management from more than 2,500 MW of completed wind energy projects; in the solar sector, we have already provided construction management support for approximately 800 MW.”

Alina Mirwald: “It’s fantastic for me to see how our construction team is efficiently combining wind and solar energy and connecting them to the grid. With the agri-PV plant in Parndorf, we at Burgenland Energie are able to oversee the construction management of yet another innovative solar project and integrate it into the existing wind farm network. In this way, the strengths of both energy sources complement each other perfectly – ensuring a stable, sustainable and efficient energy supply. The shared grid connection reduces costs and increases grid stability. This is a clear advantage of combined wind and solar power generation!”

Gerhard Steindl: “We recently celebrated the fourth anniversary of our EWS site in Parndorf, where the majority of our construction team works. Led by DI Markus Bernardi, the team currently comprises 24 people. As our second construction site, we visited the RAP wind farm at the Bruck an der Leitha Energy Park. Four wind turbines are currently being built here in the municipalities of Rohrau and Petronell-Carnuntum. EWS has been commissioned to manage the construction, ensuring health and safety, coordinating the various trades and overseeing quality assurance. Many thanks to Constantin for this informative day on site, and a big thank you to the entire construction team for their excellent work!”

Two construction sites, many impressions – and a shared realisation: renewable energy projects require not only innovative ideas, but above all expertise, experience and a strong team to bring them to fruition.

With around 100 highly qualified experts, EWS supports renewable energy projects throughout their entire lifecycle – from the initial idea through planning and implementation to operation, storage and grid technologies.
