EWS on the way to a new era!

A generational change, bundled expertise under a strong EWS umbrella brand and a new website.

A new era is dawning at EWS!
On 1 January 2026, Joachim Payr handed over shares in the company to his two daughters Esther and Alina Mirwald. From January, they will also join the management team of the company, which was founded over 30 years ago.

After many successful years, Joachim Payr is stepping down - but not leaving. He will retire from management by the middle of the year but will continue to work for the company in an advisory capacity. The handover was not only well planned, but also celebrated with enthusiasm. Esther and Alina Mirwald bring with them a good dose of motivation, new momentum and optimism for the future:

"It feels great to really get going now. We have so many ideas on how we can further develop the company so that we can continue to realise your projects efficiently in the future. With our dedicated team, strong team spirit and incredible in-house expertise, we have a solid foundation." Esther Mirwald, who will now also be involved in the areas of "Strategy and Business Development" and "Innovation and Digitalisation" at EWS in addition to her current role as Project Manager for Process Optimisation,

Alina Mirwald will now be dealing with the topics of "Communication and Corporate Culture" as Managing Partner and will continue to work as Project Manager in the area of Approvals, Technology and Operations. She says enthusiastically about her new role: "We have the opportunity to join a company that makes a significant contribution to decarbonisation through our customers' orders. We will seize this opportunity with all our might so that together we can not only achieve the energy transition, but also reduce our dependence on expensive, fossil-fuelled imported electricity. After all, it's about our future!"

EWS remains on course for the energy transition

Since 1994, EWS has stood for visionary thinking, pioneering work, innovative strength and a progressive spirit. This continues to be the case. Gerhard Steindl puts it like this: "The EWS mission is and remains 100% renewable electricity by 2030 and the use of 100% renewable energy beyond that. Determination, a feel for people's needs and knowledge of the language of our time are important prerequisites for successful projects and a sustainable company. Alina and Esther are highly motivated and bring modern ideas to EWS. I am therefore looking forward to working together and taking the step into a new era."

Joachim Payr not only looks back on his life's work as a successful entrepreneur and wind power and agri-PV pioneer, but as a proud father he is also grateful that his daughters will continue this work with great joy and together with Gerhard Steindl: "Seeing the energy with which the next generation is starting makes me incredibly proud! I am optimistic about a successful future for EWS: We are working in an industry of the future, renewable energy is needed. It is important to look ahead and focus on what is feasible. With this positive attitude of the entire team, we at EWS can continue to implement many projects in an environmentally friendly, cost-effective and safe way for our customers and partners."

With the new year, we are embarking on an exciting chapter full of innovative strength, while remaining reliable and stable on our energy transition course!
