A new approach to power supply for businesses
The electricity supply is increasingly becoming an essential service for businesses and is on a par with the need for a water supply, a reliable fibre-optic network and good transport links.
EWS Head of Project Development Norbert Dorfinger gave a presentation as part of the event ‘New Rules in the Electricity Market – New Opportunities for Businesses’ at the NEFI Technology Talk in Linz on 1 October 2026, how an EWS Sonnenfeld® reliably delivers renewable, regionally generated and affordable energy directly to businesses.
A summary of the key points:
To enable businesses to better calculate their electricity costs in the long term and ensure that renewable energy is generated where it is needed, direct lines from EWS Sonnenfeld® open up new possibilities for on-site electricity supply. Locally generated, low-cost electricity can thus be used directly to meet operational demand – with potential for further optimisation, for example through storage solutions. This means businesses remain unaffected by fossil fuel price shocks. Depending on the location and consumption profile, various models can be implemented – ranging from purchasing the system to supply or lease contracts. We would be happy to discuss the specific details with you.
An EWS Sonnenfeld® also offers many advantages for local communities and regional agriculture, such as the opportunity for local residents to participate in the agri-PV system. An attractive electricity infrastructure strengthens businesses and creates regional value. For farmers and their farms, additional lease income can offer greater financial security – particularly in light of increasing weather-related crop failures, this is a further advantage of the EWS Sonnenfeld®. Finally, agri-PV enables the efficient multi-use of land without sealing the soil or displacing food production.
What exactly is EWS SONNENFELD®?
The EWS Sonnenfeld® is an agri-PV system developed by us for grassland and arable land, which combines photovoltaics, agriculture and regional value creation in an efficient, site-optimised, smart and environmentally friendly way. Here are the key benefits:
- agricultural cultivation remains possible on 80 per cent of the total area, whilst an additional 18 per cent of flower strips serve to enhance biodiversity
- bifacial, tracking and controllable modules ensure high solar power yields, particularly at the start and end of the day
- the flexible layout design is planned and implemented on a project-by-project basis
- the areas remain fully reversible; the field remains a field
The energy transition requires solutions that work economically, ecologically and regionally. EWS Sonnenfelder® can be part of this and turn photovoltaics into far more than just a predictable, renewable energy source.
