Building wind turbines requires technical know-how and ecological responsibility. Our biologists support the construction phase on site, coordinate closely with the authorities and other parties and ensure that the requirements of the permit decision are met. This is done reliably, proactively and as efficiently in effort and cost as possible. Environmental construction supervision means that specialists monitor the construction work from an ecological point of view. They check whether conditions concerning, for example, birds, bats or amphibians are implemented and can intervene before damage occurs. This protects nature and secures compliance with your permit, including towards the authorities. Above all, environmental construction supervision for wind farms means avoiding risks before they arise: anyone who coordinates construction times, clearing dates and protection measures with the construction programme early avoids stoppages and rework.
Towards the authority, environmental construction supervision demonstrates that construction work and clearing comply with the permit. To do so it documents its site visits with minutes and photos, reports at the intervals set by the permit decision, and hands over the minutes of all site visits. Compensation and replacement areas are also evidenced, for example with geodata and survey sheets. Before construction starts, all intervention areas are inspected. Whether the environmental construction supervision has to be commissioned or named in agreement with the authority depends on the permit decision and the procedure concerned; it is commissioned before the first measures begin, reports regularly and submits a final report after construction is completed. If deviations occur, they are documented and coordinated with the authority and site management.
The conditions in the permit decision are often very specific. Construction time restrictions are typical. Whether and when clearing of the construction area is permissible, and whether deterrence measures, checks or protection areas are required, depends on the permit decision, the species affected and the current situation. Deterrence does not replace necessary protection measures. Near nesting sites, work within a defined radius can be prohibited for several months, and nesting aids or replacement habitats must be created in good time before construction starts. Tree clearing is mostly permitted only within a period set by law and the permit decision, often in winter; deviations require that the permit decision and the competent bodies allow them. The environmental construction supervision provides the professional basis for this, for example evidence that no nests or bat roosts are affected. Depending on the permit decision, further specialist areas are added, such as forestry or aquatic ecology construction supervision, and for compensation areas a multi-year monitoring follows during operation. For replacement habitats of amphibians and reptiles, several inspections per year are usual in permit decisions.
