Environmental responsibility throughout all project phases.

Pumped-storage power stations store electricity precisely when it is being produced in abundance and release it again when demand rises. This makes them crucial stabilising elements in the energy transition, particularly in the field of renewable energy generation from wind, solar and hydro power.

EWS was commissioned by Energie AG to draw up ornithological protection measures for the Ebensee pumped-storage power station, which is currently under construction.

Christiane Steinbacher, Head of the Biology Division at EWS: “Our conservation measures will permanently reduce noise emissions in the project area, which will benefit all mountain and forest bird species in the region.”

Our experienced team of nine biologists ensures that wind, PV and storage projects run smoothly, not only from a technical perspective but also in terms of nature conservation. We provide expert support throughout all construction phases and ensure compliance with environmental regulations. In doing so, we protect sensitive species and habitats, coordinate measures with the authorities and ensure thorough documentation of all environmentally relevant steps.

At sunrise, the birds begin to sing. This is when they are most active and are still largely undisturbed. That is why this is also the best time for our ornithologists to carry out their surveys.
